Our Photonics and Optoelectronics lab is made up four bays, broken up by specialised field. These bays are separated with metal safety curtains to prevent any light contamination, and each have two floating, vibration resistant tables from Thorlabs.
Below are examples of experiments currently being run in each bay, but is by no means an exhaustive list of what is possible with our equipment.

Bay 3Principal User: Dr Giancarlo Soavi Solid State LasersThese are mode locked, solid state lasers, made from graphene. Student Training LaserWe have a simplified gas laser which is used to teach our students all the basic principles of photonics. |
